iPhone 16 with iOS 26 will receive support for Qi2 charging at 25W
The upcoming iOS 26 update will expand wireless charging capabilities for the iPhone 16 series. MacRumors writes about this.
This includes support for the Qi 2.2 standard (Qi2 25W) for the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The only exception will be the iPhone 16e.
After installing iOS 26, the iPhone 16 series will be able to work with all Qi 2.2 chargers, supporting power up to 25 W. Until now, only Apple MagSafe provided this speed, while other Qi solutions were limited to 15 W.
This means that charging from 0% to 50% will take about 30 minutes - a figure identical to MagSafe.
The final release of iOS 26 is expected in September. This also hints that the iPhone 17 series will support Qi 2.2 "out of the box".
