Apple releases public betas of iOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, and other systems with new Liquid Glass design
Apple has opened access to the first public beta versions of its upcoming operating systems — iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26. The main change is the new Liquid Glass visual language, which follows the visionOS style and makes the interface more transparent and "glassy."
The company says the Liquid Glass design is the biggest visual update to iOS in years. Since the first developer beta, Apple has already made adjustments to the transparency level and updated the look of Control Center.
In addition to the design, iOS 26 has received improvements to group chats, an automatic call filtering feature, and new live translation capabilities. The update supports iPhones starting with the 11 series and the second-generation SE, as well as iPad Pro with M4 and newer iPad Air and iPad Mini models.
To install the public beta, you must be enrolled in the Apple Beta Software Program and have updated your device to at least iOS 16.4. Beta versions can contain bugs and affect stability, so Apple recommends backing up before installing.
