iOS 18.4 update broke CarPlay wireless connection and caused other errors in some cases
This week, Apple released another update to its iPhone operating system, iOS 18.4. But along with all the new features, there are also problems. For example, one of the bugs can bring back a long-deleted application. But reports of problems with CarPlay have also begun to appear on the Web.
This situation is reported by 9to5Mac.
In some cases, information such as the current track may disappear from the digital instrument panel. But this is not the worst option, because for other users CarPlay can cyclically lose and reconnect several times during a trip. Or, to reinstall it, you have to manually connect the device to the car. And it gets to the point that you have to repeat this several times until CarPlay appears on the screen again, or even reboot the car's multimedia system itself. These are the complaints that appear in X and Reddit.
Similar cases were recorded by owners of cars from various manufacturers, such as Audi, Ford, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, and others. Users also tried various ways to solve the problem: restarting the smartphone, the cars themselves, re-configuring CarPlay, etc. Unfortunately, nothing helped to fix the situation.
One Reddit user also reported that Volkswagen support is already aware of CarPlay issues with iOS 18.4, but notes that this is on Apple's side and we need to wait for a fix from the smartphone manufacturer.
It is currently unknown how long it will take for Apple to fix the issue, and the company itself does not comment on such cases. In the meantime, iOS 18.5 is already being tested, and its release is scheduled for May.
