Intel reveals first details of Panther Lake processors

- 9 October, 05:46 PM

Intel has shared architectural details of its next-generation Core Ultra 3-series processor, codenamed Panther Lake. It's the company's first chip built on Intel's cutting-edge 18A process technology.

Intel Core Ultra 3-series SoCs are aimed at a wide range of consumer and commercial AI-enabled PCs, as well as gaming and peripherals. The company says these SoCs will deliver Arrow Lake-level performance while delivering Lunar Lake-like power efficiency.

Panther Lake will feature up to 16 updated P- and E-cores, providing a 50% increase in CPU performance over the second generation. In addition, they will receive a new Intel Arc graphics module with 12 Xe cores, which will also provide a 50% performance boost.

Artificial intelligence integration was also included. Intel notes that the Core Ultra 3 series will receive a balanced XPU architecture capable of providing a new level of AI acceleration with performance of up to 180 TOPS (trillion operations per second).

Intel adds that Panther Lake will be used not only in PCs, but also in peripheral solutions, including robotics. With the new Intel Robotics AI software suite and reference board, customers will be able to innovate faster and create cost-effective robots with advanced AI capabilities, using Panther Lake for both control and AI perception systems.

Intel says it will begin mass production of Panther Lake this year. The first samples are expected to ship by the end of the year, with the processors expected to hit the market in January 2026.
