Intel is preparing to introduce updates for Arrow Lake processors later in 2025. They will receive improved artificial intelligence capabilities, including a new neural processing unit (NPU), and slightly higher frequencies, writes Wccftech.

The updated Arrow Lake-S processors will get NPU4 for higher AI performance, but will only have "slightly" higher performance compared to the existing generation.

The main focus of the update will be on AI. The existing Intel Core Ultra 200S processors can only provide 13 TOPS of performance, which does not allow them to be considered processors suitable for Copilot+ computers. At the same time, the new version will have the NPU4 neural processor used in the Lunar Lake Core Ultra 200V.

With the new NPU, Arrow Lake will have a performance of up to 48 TOPS, which will be more than enough to get Copilot+ certification. As for all other areas, it is currently unclear whether Intel plans to make significant improvements, given that the company is preparing to launch Nova Lake S chips in 2026.

Recall that Intel has recently started to lose ground in the PC processor market. At the beginning of 2025, the company lost 10% of the market, while its main competitor, AMD, gained 16.6%.
