Instagram, owned by Meta, has launched a new feature that allows users to speed up videos in Reels up to two times, TechCrunch reports.
This option is activated by long-pressing on the right or left side of the screen while watching a video. TikTok previously introduced a similar feature to help users browse content faster, especially longer videos.
Instagram Reels, which originally allowed for videos up to 15 seconds long, now supports videos up to three minutes long. The new video acceleration feature is aimed at helping viewers watch content faster and get to the end of longer videos.
This is not the first time Instagram has borrowed TikTok features, as the platform previously added a "Remix" tool, which is analogous to TikTok's "Duet" feature.
