Instagram has limited the ability to broadcast live to accounts with fewer than 1,000 followers

Instagram has updated the terms of access to the live broadcast function. Now only accounts with at least 1,000 followers can broadcast. Corresponding warnings have already started appearing to users when trying to start a broadcast. This is reported by Engadget.

The changes apply to both public and private accounts, but the innovation is currently only fully effective for public profiles.

According to Meta, the new rule is being implemented to improve the overall user experience for those who live stream. The company notes that the restriction is intended to maintain the quality of content among creators who use the live broadcast feature. However, Meta did not provide an explanation for why accounts with smaller audiences cannot provide the appropriate level of broadcasts.

The update may also affect the broadcast feature for selected friends, which was introduced in 2024 and allowed you to broadcast to three close contacts. It is currently unclear whether it will remain available after the new requirements are fully implemented.

By the way, Meta recently began implementing new safety features for underage Instagram users.
