Insta360, known for its Ace Pro series action cameras, has introduced a new wireless microphone, the Mic Air.
The device, which is about the size of an Apple AirTag, is one of the lightest microphones on the market. It weighs just 7.9 grams, which is better than the DJI Mic Mini (10 g), Shure MoveMic (8.2 g), and Rode Wireless GO II (30 g).
Mic Air easily attaches to clothing with a clip or magnet, or can be hung on a lanyard. The device is equipped with separate physical buttons for activating noise cancellation, starting and stopping recording, and quickly muting the microphone.
The battery lasts up to 10 hours when connected via the company's USB-C receiver. The range in "ideal conditions" reaches up to 300 m. Without the receiver, the microphone can connect to the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 and X5 8K cameras directly via Bluetooth. In this mode, the operating time is reduced to 7.5 hours, and the range is up to 50 meters.
The Insta360 Mic Air is available separately for $49 or bundled with a USB-C receiver for $69. The receiver is required to connect to smartphones and gimbals. It's important to note that users will need an additional adapter for iPhones with the old Lightning connector.
