Google adds gaming support to Android Auto 14.1 beta
Google has started rolling out the beta version of Android Auto 14.1, which, among other things, allows you to run selected games on your car's display. The number of supported games is currently limited, but the company plans to add more in the future, 9to5Google reports.
Currently, the only games available are Farm Heroes Saga, Candy Crush Soda Saga, Angry Birds 2, and Beach Buggy Racing. They can be launched on the car's screen while it's parked. Once the vehicle starts moving, the games automatically close.
9to5Google tested the Pixel 9 Pro Fold with a Subaru Roester 2025 via Android Auto. Angry Birds 2 and Beach Buggy Racing launched without any problems, but the journalists note that Google is not particularly engaged in optimizing games. Angry Birds 2 could not get past the "internet required" screen, and Beach Buggy Racing still showed "tilt" controls as an option.
The company hasn't revealed any details about how the games will be distributed yet. For now, they're only available in the Android Auto 14.1 beta, and it's unclear whether Google plans to continue testing or add the feature to upcoming stable updates.
