The Chinese company Huawei continues to successfully develop its own operating system HarmonyOS, reaching an important milestone - sales of smartphones with this OS have exceeded 100 million units.

HarmonyOS was introduced in 2021 in response to sanctions that prevented Huawei from using Android and has been in constant development since then. According to research firm Canalys, Huawei will have sold a total of 103 million smartphones running HarmonyOS by the end of 2024, with 45 million of those sold in 2024. The company has also sold about 21 million tablets running the OS, with 50% of those sold in 2024.

In addition to mobile devices, the HarmonyOS ecosystem is expanding to PCs. Huawei recently introduced the MateBook Pro and MateBook Fold, the first laptops running the new version of HarmonyOS, an alternative to Windows. The new products have expanded support for wireless connectivity between Huawei devices and the built-in AI assistant Celia for China.

The PC version of HarmonyOS also faces challenges, including limited support for Microsoft and Adobe applications, which requires finding an alternative solution.
