Huawei has introduced its first foldable laptop, the MateBook Fold. The device is equipped with the HarmonyOS 5 operating system and an 18-inch display.
The company is not disclosing the full specifications of the laptop — in particular, it is still unknown what kind of processor it is equipped with. However, it is quite likely that it is a Kirin chip, as in other MateBook models. Among the known specifications: 32 GB of RAM, up to 2 TB of storage, support for Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, two USB Type-C ports and a fingerprint scanner built into the power button.
The MateBook Fold has an 18-inch OLED LTPO display with a resolution of 3296 × 2472 pixels and a peak brightness of 1600 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is 92%. In the folded 13-inch format, the screen resolution is reduced to 2472 × 1648 pixels. The upper frame houses an 8-megapixel camera, and a 74.69 Wh battery is responsible for battery life.
When folded, users will have to use the touch keyboard on one side of the laptop, but for those who want to physically feel the keys, Huawei offers a separate keyboard with a touchpad. MateBook Fold owners will also be able to connect any other wireless keyboard and mouse and use the laptop as a display. The device also comes with a 140W power supply.
The new product will be available in three colors and will cost in China around $3,330 for the 1 TB version, or $3,745 for the 2 TB. Sales of the laptop will start on June 6.
