Hollow Knight: Silksong will cost just $20

- 1 September, 02:26 PM

Team Cherry announced that its long-awaited game Hollow Knight: Silksong will cost $19.99. Unlike most modern releases, this surprised players in a somewhat unusual way — "why so cheap?".

The original Hollow Knight cost $15 when it released in February 2017, and even then, some players were surprised that Team Cherry didn't charge more, considering how much diverse content it offered.

"On price: $15 US is actually quite a bit of money for many people, especially in other countries than the US. Ultimately, our main interest is that as many people as possible play our games, and we want to price them such that players can do so," explained Ari Gibson of Team Cherry.

Thanks to this price and anticipation, Silksong's first game sold 15 million copies. This gave Team Cherry financial stability and, according to Bloomberg, the opportunity to develop Silksong at its own pace, without the overtime and unrealistic deadlines typical of the industry.

Recall that the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong will take place on September 4, 2025 on all current platforms: PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, as well as on PC via Steam, GOG, Humble Store and Microsoft Store.

Silksong isn't the only game you might be interested in this month. September also includes Cronos: The New Dawn from Bloober Team, the developers of Silent Hill 2 Remake, Borderlands 4 from Gearbox Software, the Claws of Awaji expansion for Assassin's Creed Shadows, and more.
