HMD is preparing a smartwatch on Wear OS with a built-in camera
HMD is working on two smartwatches running Wear OS — Rubber 1 and Rubber 1S. The older version will have a built-in camera. This is reported by insider @smashx_60.
The Rubber 1 model, according to the source, will have a 2 MP camera, but its purpose is still unknown. It is possible that it will be used for shooting the environment or video calls - similar to the first-generation Samsung Galaxy Gear.
The Rubber 1 will also feature a 1.85-inch OLED display, a 400mAh battery, NFC, Bluetooth 5.3, wireless charging, a USB-C port, 5ATM water resistance, and heart rate and SpO2 monitoring. The simplified version of the Rubber 1S will have a smaller screen (1.07 inches), a 290mAh battery, Bluetooth 5.0, and will not support NFC.
The announcement date for the watches has not yet been announced. If the information is confirmed, the Rubber 1 will be one of the few models on Wear OS with a camera - a similar solution is currently not found among competitors.
