Hexagon and NVIDIA unveil AEON humanoid robot

Hexagon has announced the AEON industrial humanoid robot, created in partnership with NVIDIA, to automate technical and physical processes in manufacturing, logistics, aviation, and transportation.

The robot was trained in the NVIDIA Isaac Sim virtual environment, which allowed it to master basic movement and manipulation skills in a few weeks, compared to months of traditional training. In real-world conditions, AEON will run on the Jetson Orin computer and will receive an upgrade to IGX Thor for safe collaboration with humans.

AEON also integrates with Hexagon Reality Cloud Studio, a cloud-based platform that enables the robot to automatically scan rooms and objects, creating digital copies for further analysis in the NVIDIA Omniverse environment. This approach allows for the creation of highly accurate digital twins without the need for on-premises infrastructure.

In the future, AEON will be able to perform precision manipulation, part compliance inspection, equipment control, and teleworking. Hexagon also plans to use NVIDIA Isaac GR00T generative models to enhance the robot’s skills based on simulations and human examples.

The first tests of AEON are already being prepared at enterprises with a high level of automation.
