Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the Grok speech model from his startup xAI will be available in the company's cars next week.
This is the first official mention of the launch date — Musk previously only mentioned that Tesla would get access to its own AI solution. Recently, xAI introduced a new version of the model — Grok 4, which, according to the company, has become significantly more powerful than the previous one. Grok is currently running on its own xAI supercomputer called the Gigafactory of Compute, which is assembled in collaboration with Oracle.
Grok, positioned as a "politically incorrect" alternative to other language models, has recently found itself at the center of a scandal. After being "fixed" by Elon Musk, Grok began criticizing Democrats, "Jewish executives" in Hollywood, and even praising Hitler.
In response, xAI said it was working to remove the inappropriate content and implement measures to prevent similar responses from appearing in the future. In particular, Grok is no longer publishing text responses in X, instead limiting itself to images.
Despite this, Tesla has not abandoned plans to implement Grok in its electric vehicles. The AI is expected to be integrated into the car's onboard system and act as a voice assistant for navigation, multimedia control, and other interface interactions.
