Elon Musk announced that his startup xAI is creating a Baby Grok app, a separate version of Grok with content for children. There are no details about the features or launch date yet.
xAI was founded by Musk in 2023 as a response to growing competition in the field of generative AI. Its main product is Grok, an AI chatbot tightly integrated with the social network X, which is also owned by Musk.
In early July, the company released Grok 4, the fourth version of the bot in less than a year, along with animated 3D avatars for iOS. Previous iterations of Grok have been embroiled in controversy, including controversial comments about Jews and Hitler posted on X under the bot's name. This has drawn criticism from the public and experts, but xAI continues to thrive.
Baby Grok has the potential to address concerns about the safe use of AI services by children. However, given previous incidents, questions about moderation and compliance with children's standards remain open.
