Grammarly introduces eight AI agents to improve your writing

- 18 August, 07:40 PM

Grammarly, based in Ukraine, has launched eight specialized agents that will help users with writing tasks — from finding sources and checking for plagiarism to predicting reactions and grading work.

The new agents will first be available in Docs, Grammarly's new "AI-native" editor, which will give access to all of its AI features directly as you write. The company says this is the first phase of the service's transformation into a platform that will bring AI agents to where users work.

The first new agent is Reader Reactions, which predicts what conclusions a reader will draw, what questions might remain open, and where misunderstandings might arise, whether it’s a professor, a manager, or a client. The agent provides advice to help the author tailor the text to a specific audience.

Next comes AI Grader, which offers meaningful advice based on uploaded grading criteria, course information, paper topic, and open instructor data. This allows you to get personalized recommendations and an approximate grade before you submit your paper.

The third agent is Citation Finder. It selects relevant sources that confirm, question, or refute claims in the text and automatically generates properly formatted citations.

Expert Review will provide expert assessment and personalized advice on a specific topic to improve the quality of the text and ensure it meets high academic or professional standards.

For on-the-fly advice while writing, Proofreader provides recommendations tailored to the author’s style and audience. Meanwhile, another agent, AI Detector, can analyze text and determine whether it was likely created by AI or a human, helping users maintain the authenticity of their work.

Finally, Grammarly also offers a Plagiarism Checker to detect unintentional overlaps and ensure originality, as well as a Parphraser that can adapt text to the desired tone, audience, and style.

The new Grammarly experience also includes the aforementioned specialized AI editor docs and its integrated AI Chat, an assistant that will help with ideas, summaries, and tips for improving writing projects.

The new Grammarly agents will initially launch in Grammarly Free and Grammarly Pro. Later this year, the company plans to make them (and other agents) available to Grammarly Enterprise and Grammarly for Education users. The AI Detector and Plagiarism Checker agents will initially be available only to Grammarly Pro users.
