Google is working on a special Gemini mode for kids that will help with learning. Android Authority examined the new version of the Gemini app 16.12.39 on smartphones and found code that indicates this.
APK analysis allows us to speculate on what features might appear in the service in the future, based on the unfinished code. However, there is a possibility that these predicted features will not be included in the final release.
The app's code gives a general idea of possible features, including mentions of creating stories, the ability to ask questions, and get help with homework. Google's safety page for Gemini also states that it has "stricter content policies and default protections" for teens. However, this could mean there's a separate, even stricter protection mode specifically for kids.
Governments in different countries tend to impose stricter requirements on the collection and processing of children's data. However, the app code mentions that data collected by Gemini for children will be processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy (which includes special rules for children) and the Gemini App Privacy Notice.
