Google allows you to "shoe in" online with the help of AI

Google has expanded its virtual fitting feature to include the ability to "try on" shoes from the comfort of your home. The feature is currently only available in the US, but Google says the feature will soon be available in Australia, Canada, and Japan.

While browsing the catalog, you need to select a shoe model, click "try on" and add a full-length photo of yourself in any casual clothing. AI replaces the user's current shoes in the image with the selected model, allowing you to assess how they fit the style. Google recommends taking a photo with good lighting, a neutral background and without too loose clothing for a more accurate result.

The company emphasizes that the image is for illustrative purposes only — meaning it does not guarantee exact size or fit. However, it may help you make a quicker purchase decision.

Google also assures that it does not collect or store users' biometric data, does not use photos to train AI models, or share them with third parties. Users can delete both uploaded and generated images at any time.

The feature is part of an updated AI Mode, a tool that helps you search for products by description and ask clarifying questions while shopping online. The new system gradually expands Google's capabilities as a virtual shopping assistant.
