Google is testing Web Guide, a new AI tool for grouping search results

- 25 July, 11:09 AM

Google has introduced an experimental Web Guide feature that organizes search results into thematic blocks. It is powered by Gemini and is available to users through Search Labs (not available in Ukraine). The goal of Web Guide is to help find more relevant information for complex or open-ended queries that often require multiple sources and different points of view.

Instead of a regular list of links, Web Guide groups together topics. For example, for a query like "how to travel independently in Japan," a user will see separate categories with full guides, safety tips, and personal travel stories. This approach, Google says, allows you to cover a wider range of information that might otherwise be missed in a traditional search.

The feature is built on a fan-out model that Google already uses in its AI Mode. The company says Web Guide is most effective for complex queries like "What are the best tools for staying in touch with family who live in different time zones?"

By the way, Google recently announced that 2 billion people use Google's new AI Overviews feature, and 100 million use AI Mode.
