Google unexpectedly updated Snapseed to version 3.0 on iOS

- 13 June, 12:38 PM

After several years without any noticeable changes, Google has released a major update to Snapseed for iPhone and iPad. Version 3.0 has received a completely redesigned interface and a number of new features.

The long-neglected image editor has a new home screen with a grid of recently edited photos. You can add a new image via a floating button at the bottom of the screen. The interface is now divided into three tabs: Looks, Faves, and Tools. The Faves tab lets you save your favorite tools for quick access, and the export function has been moved to the top right corner.

The update also includes new styles and filters, including Film, as well as classic Snapseed tools for correcting, retouching, styling, and creative editing. These include Curves, Healing, Vignette, Drama, Double Exposure, and more. Controls are still gesture-based, but with a new arc-shaped controller at the bottom of the screen.

Snapseed remained popular thanks to its serverless operation, but was last significantly updated in 2021. Google did not specify whether version 3.0 would be available on Android.
