Google is preparing support for Quick Share for iPhone via account login
Google is developing a new feature for its Quick Share service that will allow you to transfer files between Android devices and iPhones. According to Android Authority, a pop-up window was discovered in the Google Play Services code that informs you that you can send encrypted files to iPhones and other devices if you are logged in to your Google account.
Quick Share is an analogue of AirDrop technology that works only in the Apple ecosystem. Quick Share works on Android, ChromeOS, and Windows. However, until now there has been no official solution for sharing files between Android and iOS. Previous mentions of possible support for iOS and macOS appeared last year, but there were no concrete updates.
The new feature will likely require the installation of a separate Quick Share app for iOS. At the same time, it is possible that Google will implement temporary cloud storage of files for transfer. Unlike the Android version, which works without authorization, sharing with iPhone may only be available after logging in to your account.
This solution could be the first step towards creating a universal file exchange protocol across platforms. The exact launch date of the feature is currently unknown, but its appearance in the code indicates an active development phase.
