Google unveils AI tool to help you explore career opportunities

Google has launched a new tool that uses AI to help people explore more career opportunities.

As the company's blog says, Career Dreamer's functionality can find patterns between experience, education, skills, and interests to connect you with suitable careers.

With Career Dreamer, Google says, you can use AI to create a career identity statement, detailing your current and previous positions, skills, experience, education, and interests. Google says you can add this statement to your resume or use it as a guide for interview questions.

And the new tool lets you see a variety of positions that match your experience and interests through a visual network of opportunities. If you’re interested in a specific role or field, you can drill down to learn more about it.

The tool also lets you work with Google's AI-powered assistant Gemini to craft a cover letter or resume and explore additional job ideas. It's worth noting that unlike popular services like Indeed and LinkedIn, the tool doesn't connect you with actual job openings, but it's designed to help you explore different careers quickly and easily, so you don't have to do a bunch of different Google searches. Career Dreamer is currently only available as an experiment in the US. It's unclear when the company will launch the experiment in other countries, or if it even plans to.

“We hope Career Dreamer can be helpful to all kinds of job seekers. During its development, we consulted organizations that serve a wide range of individuals, such as students navigating their first careers, recent graduates entering the workforce, adult learners seeking new opportunities, and the military community, including transitioning service members, military spouses and veterans. If you’re ready for a career change, or just wondering what’s out there, try Career Dreamer and let us know what you think,” Google wrote in a blog post.

Additionally, Google believes this new tool can help people better articulate how their existing skills relate to other professions.
