Google introduces Opal, an AI tool for creating mini-apps

- 25 July, 06:32 PM

Google is introducing Opal, a new experimental AI tool from Google Labs that will allow users to create and share mini-apps. The new feature is currently available in public beta for users in the US.

Opal combines prompts, models, and tools to create apps using simple natural language and visual editing. This tool will allow users to prototype ideas, demonstrate product concepts, or create entirely new apps for other needs.

In addition to creating entirely new apps, Opal will also allow users to mix and match existing app prototypes from the Google Labs gallery. Available templates include mini-apps for blogging, generating social media posts, product research, creating playlists, and more.

Google widget templates are available.

At the same time, Opal will visualize the workflow, the sequence of steps a user takes to achieve a certain goal. This will allow you to create multi-step applications, combining various prompts, the use of AI models and other tools.

Users will also be able to gain full control over their workflow without writing a single line of code. They will be able to combine and edit their mini-apps in the same way as they created them — thanks to natural language prompts. In addition, finished apps will be able to be shared with others using their Google account.
