Google introduces Doppl, an app for virtual clothes fitting

- 27 June, 01:46 AM

Google has announced (via TechCrunch) the launch of an experimental mobile app called Doppl, which lets users visualize how a certain outfit would look on them. The new app is now available for iOS and Android users in the US.

To use Doppl, you need to upload a full-length photo of yourself. You can then select an image of any garment — such as a photo from a store or an image from social media — and see how it would look on a digital version of your body. The app can also generate videos with real-time motion effects to better convey the look of the garment.

Doppl allows you to save images and share them with other users. The decision to launch a separate app, according to Google, aims to make virtual fitting more accessible while also collecting more data on its effectiveness.

Unlike the company’s previous tools, which showed clothes on models, Doppl personalizes the experience — images are generated based on the user’s own body. Google notes that the app is still in the testing phase, so the fitting results may not be perfect. There is also no information yet on whether the app will be available in other countries.
