Google introduces Pixel Watch 4 with more powerful AI features, new display, and satellite SOS support
Google has officially introduced the Pixel Watch 4 smartwatch, which has received significant updates in both design and software. According to The Verge, the main emphasis is on artificial intelligence: the Gemini voice assistant has appeared in the device, completely replacing Google Assistant, and now offers enhanced interaction capabilities and personalized advice.
The smartwatch comes in two sizes — 41 and 45 mm. It features an Actua 360 display, which is 10% larger than the previous generation, has 15% thinner bezels, and supports a peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. Google claims that this is the brightest screen among the company's smartwatches. The battery is designed for 30 hours of battery life in the smaller version, and up to 40 hours in the larger one. Thanks to faster charging, you can restore 50% of the charge in just 15 minutes.
The main change is the integration of the Gemini voice assistant, which has completely replaced Google Assistant. It offers personalized tips, usage scenarios, and deeper integration with other Google services. Among the features is a fitness coach that analyzes the user's sleep, injuries, and activity, forming individual training plans.
The Pixel Watch 4 also gets more accurate dual-frequency GPS, support for satellite SOS without additional subscriptions, and health sensors, including an ECG. The company also emphasizes repairability: the screen and battery are now replaceable, and a new screw-on design should ensure a longer lifespan for the device.
The company positions Pixel Watch 4 as an essential companion — a smart assistant that accompanies the user every day, works independently of the smartphone, and combines artificial intelligence tools with classic smartwatch functions.
Depending on the size, the Pixel Watch 4 costs $349 and $399, respectively (in the US). For the LTE option, you will have to pay an additional $100. Pre-orders have already started, and the watches are expected to go on sale on October 9. Unfortunately, the Pixel Watch, like other Google gadgets, is not officially available in Ukraine.
