Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the first foldable smartphone with full protection against dust and water
Google has officially announced the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the first foldable smartphone with full IP68 water and dust resistance. This is a significant step for the foldable category, as no manufacturer has previously offered protection for the internal display from small particles that could damage it. Information and photos taken from The Verge.
The smartphone has a new gearless hinge, which makes the design stronger, more resistant to drops, and does not create additional pressure on the display when bent. In addition, it does not increase the appearance of the crease on the internal screen.
The external display has become slightly larger — 6.4 inches instead of 6.3 in the previous model. The internal 8-inch screen now has a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, which ensures comfortable operation even in direct sunlight. Despite the reduced width of the case by one millimeter, the battery has increased to 5,015 mAh, which allows you to use the device for up to 30 hours.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is powered by the same Tensor G5 chip as the rest of the Pixel 10 series. It powers new AI features right on the device, including voice-based phone call translation, Magic Cue contextual cues based on your actions, and an AI diary that generates cues and assesses your activity.
Another update is Qi2 support with the Pixelsnap magnetic system, which provides fast wireless charging up to 15W and compatibility with new accessories.
The Pixel 10 Pro Fold's cameras remain the same as the previous model: the main module has a 50-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 aperture and OIS support, the ultra-wide is 12 MP with a 125° viewing angle, and the telescopic sensor provides 5x optical zoom. Compared to the classic Pixel 10 Pro, the sensors are less light-sensitive, so the Fold's photographic capabilities are slightly inferior to the standard Pro models.
The smartphone is available in two colors — moonstone (gray) and jade (greenish), the price starts at $1,799. Pre-orders are open today, official sales will begin on October 9. The smartphone will not be officially sold in Ukraine.
