Google introduces tool to detect AI-generated content

At the I/O conference, Google announced the SynthID Detector tool, which allows you to check whether content was created using AI tools.

As Google DeepMind explains, SynthID Detector is a "verification portal" that can quickly determine whether an image, video, audio, or text contains SynthID watermarks embedded in content created by Gemini, Imagen, Lyria, and Veo models.

After uploading a file, the portal analyzes it and points to specific fragments where the probability of a watermark is highest. For audio, these are individual segments, for images - certain areas.

Google has now begun testing the tool with a limited group of users. After that, it will gradually open to those who want it by appointment. Google's goal is to make AI content more transparent and give users the tools to verify it.

As a reminder, at the I/O 2025 conference, Google also introduced a new AI Ultra plan for $250 per month, a real-time translation feature in Google Meet, a new AI tool for creating interfaces Stitch, smart glasses in collaboration with Xreal, automatic creation of strong passwords in Chrome, a new generation of the Imagen 4 image generator, and new Gemma 3n artificial intelligence models that can be run locally even on a smartphone.
