Improving the security of your devices is a common theme for almost all smartphone and computer manufacturers. Google is also paying more attention to the issue, and a new update to Google Play Services will bring another security-enhancing feature to Android.
As 9to5Google noted, the Google Play services v25.14 update has an interesting feature in the Security & Privacy section. The gist of it is very simple: if the device remains without any user activity for three consecutive days, the system will automatically reboot.
This will return the device to the Before First Unlock (BFU) state, disable biometric login methods, and make it more difficult to access user data.
It is noted that similar functionality can be found in, for example, GrapheneOS and Apple added something similar with the release of iOS 18.1. Although some conditions and time frames may differ, in general the functions are similar.
The update itself should be rolling out within about a week, but it may take a little longer for the new feature to be activated. Google also doesn't detail which Android versions will be supported or whether there will be a separate setting in the settings.
