Google has started placing ads in its AI search and in the AI Overviews extension, which recently launched in Ukraine. According to the company, such ads are "useful" because they help you quickly find the right products or services. This is reported by Bleeping Computer.
At the Google Marketing Live conference, the company announced the launch of ad units in AI search results. They appear after the generated answers, and below them are the traditional blue links.
In an accompanying document, Google describes ads in AI Overviews as “a new way to find information online.” The company says that “Google’s internal data shows that users find these ads useful because they allow them to quickly connect with relevant businesses or services at the right time.”
At the same time, Google does not disclose any details about the methodology or the amount of data collected. The company is actively developing advertising formats. In the last quarter, the company received $72.5 billion in advertising revenue - this amount could increase if advertising in AI Overviews becomes standard.
