Google is adding a new Manage subscriptions tab to Gmail that makes it easier to clean up your inbox from a multitude of newsletters. This tab displays all of a user's active subscriptions, sorted by sending frequency, with the ability to unsubscribe with one click.
You can use the new feature via the side menu in Gmail — the Manage subscriptions item will appear next to the Inbox, Drafts, and Spam folders. The list will indicate how many emails you've received from each service in recent weeks, and there will also be an Unsubscribe button that will send a request to unsubscribe without having to open the email itself or go to the sender's website.
In addition to bulk viewing of all subscriptions, you will be able to click on a specific sender to view only their emails and assess whether it is worth staying subscribed.
The feature is already rolling out to Gmail on the web. It will be available on the Android app starting July 14 and on iOS starting July 21. However, the rollout will be phased in, so some users may see it later. The update applies to both personal Google Accounts and Google Workspace users and Workspace Individual subscribers in select countries.
Google also notes that the new tab does not replace existing filters and categories, but is an addition to the tools to combat inbox overload. It is designed to simplify navigation between numerous mailings that often go unnoticed or do not have a convenient unsubscribe form.
