Google has introduced an update to Gmail that allows users of Android tablets and foldable devices to customize the interface layout. The update is part of version 2025.04.13.x of Gmail for Android.
The new feature includes a two-pane layout, with your inbox on the left and your selected or open messages on the right. Users can now adjust the width of each pane using a custom divider, allowing you to either see more messages or get a longer email preview.
This feature is also available in the Google Chat app. Conversation view can be narrow, like on a phone, or take up the entire screen in landscape orientation. This feature was previously unavailable on Android tablets without switching to portrait mode.
Additionally, the Gemini sidebar can now generate images that can be saved, copied, and pasted into drafts.
