The global gaming market is expected to reach $188.8 billion in 2025, a 3.4% increase over 2024. This was reported by GamesIndustry.biz, citing a Newzoo report.

Consoles will see the biggest increase, up 5.5% to $45.9 billion. One of the main factors behind this is the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 handheld console, as well as "higher software costs and major releases."

The mobile video game market will remain the leader and will be responsible for the lion's share of revenue in 2025 — $103 billion. Despite this, analysts note that app stores and online stores are overflowing with new games, which is why mobile gaming is experiencing visibility problems for many new projects.

The PC gaming market will grow 2.5% to $39.9 billion and account for 21% of all revenue in 2025. Newzoo notes that first-half releases, including Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, are helping to significantly increase revenue in 2025.

As for other indicators of the gaming market, in 2025 the global player base will grow to 3.6 billion, 4.4% more than in 2024. If we take mobile players, their number will grow to 3 billion. The number of console players will increase to 645 million, and on PC — to 936 million.

Of the 3.6 billion players, the number of those who pay for games will grow to 1.6 billion, or 44% of the total. The average player spend per year will be about $119.7.
