Sucker Punch has released a new trailer for Ghost of Yōtei. The game's release date has also been announced - October 2, 2025, exclusively on PS5.
The plot of Ghost of Yōtei takes the player to the northern region of Japan, in the Ezo region (modern Hokkaido), where the main character Atsu returns home 16 years after an attack by the Yōtei Six. She has survived the death of her family, learned to survive, and now has a single goal - revenge. Armed with the same katana that was used to impale her on a burning tree, Atsu sets out to hunt down each of the six: the Snake, the Oni, the Kitsune, the Spider, the Dragon, and Lord Saito.
Ghost of Yōtei isn't a direct sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, but the developers promise that it's a worthy reimagining of its spirit. Atsu is a new character, and while her journey is as deep and painful as Jin Sakai's, she goes through her own unique experiences.
Pre-orders for the game will begin on May 2. Users will be able to choose from the standard ($69.99), Digital Deluxe ($79.99), and Collector's Edition.
Like Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei will feature a heavy emphasis on the open world. Players will be able to choose the order in which they hunt enemies, track targets, train with weapons masters, relax by campfires under the stars, and even relive Atsu's memories through a new flashback mechanic.
