Sony showed gameplay of Ghost of Yōtei — the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima will be released on October 2 on PS5

Sony held a presentation of Ghost of Yōtei, a PS5 exclusive from Sucker Punch, which will be released on October 2, 2025. In the video, the developers demonstrated the open world, combat system, photo mode, and new stylistic filters.

Players will take on the role of Atsu, a female ronin, who sets out to hunt down six bandits who murdered her family. Over time, she gains a reputation as an onryo, a vengeful spirit from Japanese folklore.

The game world is open to exploration at a pace convenient for the player: you can focus on the combat system, exploration, or the story. The events take place on the island of Ezo (modern Hokkaido) in 1603. Ghost of Yōtei will also have a companion — a wolf, accompanying the heroine on her journey.

The developers also showed off a variety of image filters. In addition to the familiar "Kurosawa mode" with a black-and-white picture, there will also be new filters: "Miike mode" for bloodier fights (in honor of director Takashi Miike) and "Watanabe mode" with calm lo-fi beats (in honor of the creator of the anime Samurai Champloo).

The game will also be accompanied by a themed PS5 and accessories. Ghost of Yōtei will be one of Sony's major exclusives in 2025, alongside Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
