OpenAI will soon introduce a new artificial intelligence model, GPT-5. In a recent interview, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman shared some details about the development of this model.

During the podcast This Past Weekend, Altman said he felt intimidated during some stages of testing GPT-5. He said the new model "feels really fast" and compared its impact to the Manhattan Project, hinting at the potentially far-reaching consequences of its implementation.

Altman did not elaborate on the specific aspects of the model that raised concerns, but during the conversation he hinted that OpenAI is building something that they themselves do not fully understand, but continue to do so anyway.

Altman also expressed concern about the lack of regulation in the field of artificial intelligence. He compared the current situation to the lack of "adults in the room", emphasizing that AI is developing too quickly and that the control over it does not correspond to the level of potential threat.

Sam Altman has previously expressed concerns about the uncontrolled development of artificial intelligence, noting that the technology can cause great harm without a responsible approach. However, OpenAI continues to move towards creating more powerful models, competing with Anthropic, Google, Amazon, Meta, Perplexity and Chinese companies that demonstrate comparable or even better AI development results.

How far the development of artificial intelligence will go without proper control is anyone's guess.
