Google has introduced an update to its Gemini chatbot with two innovations – an interactive tool that will make it easier to create, improve, and share Canvas works, and the Audio Overview function for converting documents into podcasts.
By selecting Canvas in the Gemini query bar, users can start writing or editing a document, instantly seeing all changes in real time. Available features include changing the tone, length or formatting with convenient tools. If you need to share your created content with colleagues, users can simply export it to Google Docs with one click.
Canvas also enhances Gemini’s programming and software development capabilities. This new tool allows users to quickly turn their ideas into working prototypes of apps, Python scripts, games, simulations, and other interactive solutions. A chatbot will collaborate with the user at every stage, helping to make consistent changes to the code.
In addition, Canvas will allow you to generate and preview HTML/React code and other web app prototypes to see how the design will look. This allows you to generate, for example, an email subscription form for a website and see the result immediately.
Canvas is now globally available to Gemini and Gemini Advanced users in all languages.
Another innovation is the introduction of the Audio Transcription feature in Gemini. This tool allows you to turn any document, presentation, or even a Deep Research report into a podcast. The chatbot will generate a dialogue between two AI hosts who will lead a lively discussion based on the uploaded files. They will summarize the material, make connections between topics, conduct a dynamic dialogue, and offer unique perspectives.
Audio Transcription is available today in English for Gemini and Gemini Advanced users worldwide, with additional languages coming soon. To use the feature, simply upload a document or presentation and click the prompt above the query bar. Audio transcription is available on the web and Gemini mobile app, and generated podcasts can be shared or downloaded to your device.
