Garmin introduced the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970
Garmin has introduced the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970, its latest GPS smartwatches for running and triathlon with advanced training tools, recovery information, personalized workouts and more.
The watch features Garmin's brightest AMOLED displays, a built-in speaker and microphone, Garmin Thriathlon Coach training plans, daily evening reports, skin temperature tracking, health and wellness features, and more.
The Garmin Forerunner 570 includes advanced running metrics like training status, power and dynamics based on wrist-based data. The watch will also track acute stress, training effects, performance status and more. In addition, runners will be offered daily recommended workouts designed specifically for them.
Outside of running, the watch can track key health metrics like sleep, energy, stress, menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and more. It also tracks heart rate variability (HVR). Other features include the ability to download songs from Spotify, Deezer, and Amazon Music for listening without a smartphone.
The Forerunner 570 will be available in two sizes, 42 and 47 millimeters. The watch has an aluminum frame and several different colors to choose from, such as raspberry with a translucent bone-mango stripe, rich yellow with a translucent white-pebble-turquoise stripe, and indigo with a translucent imperial purple/indigo stripe. It will last up to 11 days on battery life and is priced at $549.99.
The Garmin Forerunner 970, which will only come in 47mm, is a more premium version, which is immediately noticeable in the battery life - up to 15 days, but at the same time the cost is also significantly higher - $ 749.99. The smartwatch has all the same features as the Forerunner 570 plus a few exclusive features.
The more expensive watch is made of premium materials. It has a durable, scratch-resistant sapphire lens and a titanium frame. In addition, the Forerunner 970 has a built-in LED flashlight that can be easily controlled directly from the display.
Other exclusive features of the 970 include improved stats for each run and recommendations for weekly maximum mileage. In addition, using a sensor on the watch, the Garmin app will record the electrical signals that control your heartbeat. These recordings will be analyzed to detect signs of an irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation.
However, the smartwatch will be able to measure energy efficiency after multiple runs using the new HRM 600 heart rate monitor, which will be sold separately for $169.99. In addition, with the HRM 600, the Forerunner 970 will be able to report loss of speed, specifically how much the user slows down when their foot hits the ground.
