Garmin, a manufacturer of navigation electronics and smartwatches, has added artificial intelligence features and a premium Connect+ subscription to its app. New and existing users will be given a 30-day trial period, after which the subscription will cost $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year.
Despite the new subscription, all previous features and the ability to track health data remain free. Instead, the subscription will offer an AI-powered "Active Intelligence" feature that will give watch users personalized advice and suggestions throughout the day based on their health and activity data. The more they use this feature, the more information they will receive.
Other features include a performance dashboard that will allow users to compare fitness and health data through graphs and charts over time. Garmin users will also be able to start workouts on the watch and use a compatible smartphone to check real-time heart rate and pace data.
With a subscription, Garmin smartwatch owners will receive additional training guidance. When using the Run Coach or Cycling Coach plans on a compatible watch or bike computer, they will have access to exclusive recommendations, training content and videos. In addition, Connect+ will expand the LiveTrack features by allowing friends and family to be notified when they start their workouts. Users will also be able to create personalized pages to share with others.
