Samsung introduces Galaxy Fold7 – its thinnest and lightest foldable smartphone
Samsung has introduced the flagship foldable smartphone Galaxy Fold7, which has become the thinnest and lightest in the series - its thickness when folded is only 8.9 mm, and its weight is 215 grams. The novelty combines an updated design, a 200 MP camera and new AI functions. Thanks to the improved Armor FlexHinge with a teardrop design, the smartphone has a smaller crease on the screen and should be stronger than its predecessor. In particular, thanks to the protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 on the outer screen and the frame of the case made of reinforced aluminum.
Galaxy Fold7 is equipped with two displays: the external one is a 6.5-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a resolution of 2520x1080 pixels, an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz, and the main one is an 8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X with a resolution of 2184x1968 pixels, a peak brightness of up to 2600 nits and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which is 11% larger than its predecessor. Thanks to this, the smartphone should be more convenient for editing photos and videos, multitasking and viewing content.
The Galaxy Fold7's camera setup includes a 200MP wide-angle module, which Samsung promises will be able to take 44% brighter photos, as well as a 12MP ultra-wide-angle, a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 10MP selfie camera on the main display.
The smartphone received a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor for Galaxy, which promises a 38% increase in CPU performance, 26% GPU and 41% NPU performance compared to the previous Fold6. This allows for faster processing of AI tasks, in particular thanks to the Gemini Live functions, which understands text, voice and objects in the frame, Circle to Search for instant information search, as well as Photo Assist and Suggest Erases for intelligent photo editing. In addition, the Galaxy Fold7 is equipped with the Audio Eraser function to remove noise from videos and AI Results View to display the results of AI work in a separate window with the ability to drag content between applications.
Other features include a 4400 mAh battery with fast charging support (up to 50% in 30 minutes), IP48 protection, Samsung Knox Vault, and new KEEP (Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection) protection that encrypts data for each application separately.
The smartphone runs on Android 16 with the One UI 8 interface.
