To support its Kickstarter campaign, Frogwares released a 5-minute video walkthrough detailing The Sinking City 2. In just one day, the game raised more than double its initial goal of $108,035. At the time of publication, over $223,000 had already been raised.

The new game will change the genre from a mystical detective to a full-fledged survival horror. The player's attention will be focused on exploring large non-linear locations, collecting resources and fighting monsters. Unlike the first part, the flooded Arkham has been abandoned by almost all its inhabitants, except for the most insane.

The developers paid a lot of attention to the monsters of Howard Phillips Lovecraft, and also came up with their own. Each creature will have its own behavior in battle, which will have to be taken into account. For example, "smashers" will run away and hide after an attack, setting up ambushes, and "slithers" will have vulnerable points on their bodies that will have to be targeted.

The studio also developed its own injury system for monsters, similar to the one in Dead Space, and it also seems that they drew inspiration from space horror when creating the main character's death scenes from various monsters.

However, The Sinking City 2 does not forget its roots, and the game retains the detective system of collecting and analyzing evidence. This system will be responsible for exploring locations and obtaining most of the improvements for the character's inventory.

The developers promise to release The Sinking City 2 in late 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
