Epic Games has announced that Fortnite will be coming to Windows devices on ARM architecture later this year. The company is working with Qualcomm to add support for Easy Anti-Cheat on Snapdragon processors.
Over the past year, many laptops with Snapdragon chips have appeared on the market, including Copilot+ computers. Although Qualcomm assured that most games will run on ARM architecture without difficulty, many cooperative games require anti-cheat support, without which they cannot be run.
"The majority of PC games today are compiled for x64, which doesn’t translate directly to the Windows on Snapdragon architecture. Due to the way anti-cheat software works with x64 features, additional tooling is required for compatibility with these devices," Epic Games said in a statement.
In addition to Fortnite, Easy Anti-Cheat is used in games such as Rust, The Finals, Apex Legends, War Thunder, Dead by Daylight, and many others. Therefore, anti-cheat support on ARM is key to expanding the gaming capabilities of these systems. Epic Games has said that this support will arrive later this year, but has not yet given an exact timeframe.
