Skechers has released children's sneakers with a hidden compartment for AirTag
Skechers has introduced a new line of children's shoes called Find My Skechers that allows parents to hide an Apple AirTag under the heel. The idea is that parents can track their child's location if tracking via smartwatch or social media doesn't seem to be enough.
The sneakers are available for children from one to ten years old, and this has caused a lot of debate. Are toddlers really left unattended to the point where they need a tracker in their shoes? And would a 10-year-old child not guess that their shoes are being tracked? Moreover, according to research, almost half of children this age have a smartphone and can receive notifications about a third-party AirTag. Researchers also warn that constant digital monitoring can provoke more rebellious behavior in children.
At the same time, sneakers can be practical in everyday life. They will help you find shoes forgotten at school, children's camp or at a sleepover. Some netizens even jokingly noted that such a function could also be useful for older people who tend to get lost.
The commercial highlights the "securely hidden compartment" that the child will not feel when wearing. The sneakers are machine washable. They have already gone on sale. Of course, the AirTag will have to be purchased separately.
