Chinese company Xiaomi announced that its fastest electric car SU7 Ultra has set a new lap record among production electric cars on the legendary Nurburgring track in Germany.

The production version of the SU7 Ultra covered the 20.8-kilometer ring in 7 minutes and 4.957 seconds . This officially makes it the fastest production electric car ever to pass the "Green Hell" - as this track is often called. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun emphasized that this is just the beginning. The company plans to continue storming the Nurburgring, competing on an equal footing with the most respected automotive brands in the world.

The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra costs approximately 67,600 euros and is ahead of its time in such famous models as the Rimac Nevera, Tesla Model S Plaid, Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, as well as the legendary McLaren and Ferrari.

This success is no coincidence. In October 2024, the SU7 Ultra prototype already set a record of 6 minutes 46.874 seconds as the fastest four-door car of any type at the Nurburgring. The production version uses the same powerful Super Motor V8 engines developed by Xiaomi, which produce a total of 1,548 horsepower, accelerating the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 1.98 seconds and developing a top speed of 350 km/h.

Before the Nurburgring, the SU7 Ultra had already set records on several Chinese tracks — in Chengdu, Zhuzhou, Zhuhai, and Zhejiang.

As a reminder, Xiaomi recently announced a partnership with Polyphony Digital, which will see the SU7 Ultra appear in the popular racing game Gran Turismo 7.
