EA has no plans to raise game prices to $80 yet
Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said the company has no plans to raise game prices to $80 in the current fiscal year. He made the statement during the quarterly report for Q1 2025, answering an investor question about the pricing policies of competitors. This is reported by IGN.
He said EA already offers a wide range of pricing, from free-to-play to premium and deluxe versions, targeting different categories of players. He added that the company will continue to look for ways to provide "great value" through different sales models, but no radical changes are expected yet.
EA also confirmed that it did not factor in potential price changes when formulating its financial forecast for the current year. This means that releases through March 2026, including Madden NFL 26, EA Sports FC 26, and likely Battlefield 6, will not see their prices rise to $80.
Nintendo previously announced a price of $80 for Mario Kart World, and Xbox initially confirmed the price for The Outer Worlds 2, but quickly backed down after criticism. Gearbox also did not raise the price of Borderlands 4, leaving it at $70. Analysts say Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the potential candidates for a price increase.
