EA announced the release date of Battlefield 6 and announced open beta tests
EA held a presentation of Battlefield 6 multiplayer, during which it revealed the release date of the game and announced open beta tests. The new shooter from DICE will be released on October 10, 2025.
Battlefield 6 is being touted as an attempt to return the series to its roots after the mixed reviews for Battlefield 2042. The developers plan to once again focus on environmental destruction, as in Battlefield Bad Company 2, as well as revive the classic class system and dynamic maps.
Beta testing will begin next week. Early access will start on August 7-8, the first open weekend will take place on August 9-10, and the second will last from August 14 to 17. This will allow players to evaluate the innovations and provide feedback to the developers before the release.
Players will lead the Dagger 13 squad as they confront the game's main antagonists, the Pax Armata organization. In addition, the Battlefield Portal mode returns with updated tools for creating custom content.
At the end of the presentation, the developers dropped a hint at a mysterious additional mode, which, according to rumors, could be Battle Royale.
EA hopes that Battlefield 6 will restore the franchise's popularity after the criticism of the previous installment. The game's success will largely depend on how well the developers can combine classic elements of the series with modern technology.
Recall that Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson also announced that the company does not plan to raise game prices to $80 in fiscal year 2025. This means that Battlefield 6 will cost close to $70.
