Dying Light will receive a next-gen patch for the game's 10th anniversary
A major free update for Dying Light: Retouched will be released on June 26, 2025, improving the game's visuals, sound, and optimization on modern systems. The update will be free for all users on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Techland clarifies that this is not a remaster, but an update that maximizes the potential of the original game. In particular, the quality of textures will be improved, support for 8K shadows will be implemented, the lighting system will be improved, more depth will be added to objects in the world, and the level of detail will be increased.
Special attention was paid to the audio. Original composer Pawel Blaszczak returned to work on the soundtrack, completely re-recording the music using analog tape, as well as adding new tracks and improving the battle sound effects.
The update has no impact on system requirements and is compatible with older consoles. Techland says it was hand-crafted, carefully reviewing almost all game assets to improve quality without sacrificing stability.
The update comes ahead of the release of Dying Light: The Beast 22, which will take place on August 22, 2025, so it's an opportunity to revisit Kyle Crane's story or get to know it for the first time.
