Duolingo launches chess course
The Duolingo platform is expanding its capabilities — a chess course will soon appear in the application, writes The Verge.
The training will take the form of short exercises: for example, the user will be asked to move a knight correctly to fix the movement of a piece, or to checkmate a king in a certain situation. It will also be possible to play short games or full games against a character named Oscar, who acts as a coach.
As Duolingo manager Edwin Bodge said, the developers' goal is to make chess simple and understandable for everyone. The course will be adapted to different levels of training.
Chess will join Duolingo's existing music and math courses. The new course is currently available in English on iOS in beta. It is expected to be available to more users in the coming weeks, with Android and other languages coming soon.
