The recently launched Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which measures just 5.8mm thick, is the company's thinnest smartphone yet. However, a drop test conducted by YouTube channel PBKreviews revealed that the device has some weaknesses.
The smartphone's durability was tested by dropping it onto concrete from a height of an average human height. The video shows that during the first drop, the latest Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protective glass covering the S25 Edge display received several noticeable cracks, but the screen itself remained functional. The second drop was more severe on the smartphone's titanium frame, which withstood the fall with only minor scuffs.
The third drop tested the Gorilla Glass Victus 2 back panel, which also cracked. The main camera sensor on the back also suffered some damage. The fourth drop resulted in several additional defects, but despite this, the smartphone remained fully functional.
The Galaxy S25 Edge is positioned as a stylish and lightweight flagship device, but its thin body raises doubts about its durability. The smartphone's price in Europe starts at €1,249 and potential buyers should still worry about protecting the device's body to avoid damage from possible falls.
