Porsche introduces wireless charging station for electric Cayenne 2026
Porsche has introduced an induction charging system for the upcoming electric Cayenne, scheduled for release in 2026. The technology was shown at the IAA Mobility exhibition in Munich, and it will allow you to charge the car without cables — just park it over a special plate.
The system consists of two parts: an air-cooled floor plate and a liquid-cooled undercarriage plate. The latter is integrated into the car's design at the factory, so to get the function, you need to order pre-processing during production. The plate can also be added later at the dealer.
The 11 kW charging module weighs about 50 kg and operates at 240 V and 48 A. The system can withstand temperatures from -40 to +50°C and can provide up to 90% efficiency — about the same as regular Level 2 charging. Rain, snow or leaves on the plate do not affect the process, but it detects animals or metal objects and automatically stops charging. The plate can even be run over by a heavy car — it will remain unharmed.
Parking is made easier with Park Assist: the car automatically aligns itself over the slab and the air suspension automatically reduces the distance for optimal power transfer. Control and settings are integrated into the MyPorsche app.
Prices for the US have not yet been announced, but in Germany the complete set will cost approximately $9500. By the way, Porsche confirmed that the already released Taycan and Macan will not support this technology.
